Brief History

Ngoma radio is a popular Ugandan internet radio station based in the United Kingdom . It was founded by Mustapha Semanda in 2007 but officially launched on the 22/11/2008 in East London by the Kabaka’s deputy representative Owek. Dr Godfrey Sekweyama and the then Financial Secretary for the UK Treasury Hon Stephen Timms. He’s currently the Member of Parliament for East Ham.
The radio specialises in entertainment and educative programs such as ‘ Tula twogere’, 'senga' and a popular political show called ‘Tompalampa’. It also features a program called ‘Ngoma airlines’ where Ugandans at home interact with their friends and relatives abroad. Our listeners call from all over the world and request songs as well as sending greetings to their loved ones. In Uganda , it can be listened to from the internet and from 92.3 FM (Voice of Africa) on Sundays from 8-10pm (Uganda Time).

Management

Ngoma radio is managed by Mustapha Semanda and is now widely recognised as the main voice of Ugandans abroad operating with a theme – the Ugandan voice for the voiceless. The station is run by other volunteers who include; EllyK, Charles Kyazze, Shafiq M, Shamim Nankya, Damalie Lwanga and Bosco Nyombi among others.

Our aims and Objectives

We endeavor to provide:

Ø sound broadcasting services to Ugandan communities all over the world who are otherwise underserved.

Ø facilitation of discussion and the expression of opinion on social, economic and political issues.

Ø entertainment and educative programs for Ugandans all over the world especially those in the diaspora ; sharing of knowledge.

Ø Educative programs tailored for Ugandans to better understand the particular countries they live in and strengthen the links within these communities.
Ø Integrating Ugandans through our social events such as the Ngoma BBQ
